it has been a while.  It really is too bad there is not more action on this forum.
It has been another dry summer.  Here it is summer and we are feeding expensive hay. I hope it rains soon and the pastures recuperate for fall.
I think we need to all pray for rain in due season. when I was a kid, every sunday there was a special prayer at the end of the service for weather, and asking God that he would give the fruits of the earth and maintain them. But society as a whole is so out of touch with how food is grown and produced and how vulnerable we are. I am thankful every time it rains.

aside from that, we got our barn done.  Our old barn was really just a shed and hubby needs it to put equipment in out of the weather.
We had three calves this year so far, with one more due. Dexter calfs are so cute since they are so little.

lol,  I guess I'll reply to my own post.
it has been a while.  I have been knitting socks a lot. Now I am tired of looking at even another skein of yarn, maybe next winter.
you know how it goes on a homestead.  Lots of work, and if you are thinking there might be a dull moment there comes an emergency.
We have not seen this much winter since, well, can't remember. My neighbor says 14 years.  We are just hoping we won't get another ice storm. Last year was just awful. You all keep warm. Have a great day
