If your home schooling and you have a neighbor that is gifted in a subject that may be your weekpoint would you ask them to help and if not why not? Now lets add a little spice to the question. Same scene but the person is a moral upstanding person but is not a Christian and another equally gifted person on a certain subject is a Christian but tends to sin on a regular basis , who would you have teach.?

Good question. I suppose it depends on the goal of the home schooler. Some will strive to fill their kids with knowledge. If that is the case then one must avail themselves of all experts in various fields (saved or lost, moral or immoral). However, if the goal is to equip our children with the foundations needed to function as the men and women God intended, then all Spirit filled, Jesus loving, obedient Christians have the "gifts" to do that. We do not need neighbors to teach our kids... we do not need schools to teach kids... that's why it's called HOME school.

1John 2:27 - But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Lets pick a subject say math and the best you can do is add and subtract and same with your wife. Thats as far as your going to teach your children even if your neighbor may be a math teacher and a good guy willing to help you out? and who is to say God didn't put that person in your life to help you and you spiritualy help him?

I don't know anybody who homeschools that can't multiply and divide. I think your example is so extreme that it is an unrealistic question. Anybody who applies themselves can learn enough math to function. You don't have to "do it in your head" to be able to teach it. All it takes is the ability to read and work with your children. Besides, ALL of the homeschoolers I know have at least a high school eduction and most have some college level eduction as well. With that said, most Amish and Mennonite adults are quite well known for their incredible work ethic and high levels of moral standards and honesty. Most of them only "educate" their children to an 8th grade level. They have decided that facts are not as important as character. So, like I said, it depends on what your goal is.

of course my children are all grown up and long gone, so it is almost purely hypothetical. (I have taught neighbor's home schooled children. There it was the other way around, I am the Christian and they are liberals). If I were in the kind of situation you describe, maybe, depends what I could offer them in return. I certainly would not expect it as a favor. Depending on the subject, (for instance piano or a foreign language) I would not care if the teacher was Buddhist or whatever.
What do you mean, a christian who is sinning on a regular basis? We all have our weaknesses that we need to overcome.

There are those that believe that rather than be around a non Christian they would rather be around a Christian no matter what shape spiritually they are in.They cacoon away so as not to touch the outside world for fear they may be tainted. I believe we are to be in the world but not of the world. How else can we accomplish Math 28 , the great commission
